Project Overview
This assignment gave me hands-on experience of designing, typesetting, and printing with metal type at the Book Arts Studio in the Marriott Library at the University of Utah. It increased my sensitivity to typographic design and printing processes.
About the Typeface
Onyx was designed by Gerry Powell for ATF in 1937. It is essentially a modernization of Modern Roman Bold Extra Condensed, and could well be called an extra condensed version of Ultra Bodoni.
